International Day for the Eradication of Poverty | 17 October 2026

Theme: “United for Peace and Human Rights” | Focus: “Safe Homes for All”

Poverty eradication begins with dignity, equal opportunities and the protection of fundamental human rights. A safe and adequate home is not a privilege; it is essential to accessing education, healthcare, decent employment and a better future.

On 17 October 2021, we participated in a multi-stakeholder roundtable in Angola marking the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, engaging with development discussions on environmental resilience, climate change, food security and poverty reduction in a World Bank-related context.

Five years later, I remain committed to advancing inclusive development, empowering women and young people, and ensuring that grassroots communities have a meaningful voice in shaping policies that affect their lives.

Ending poverty requires more than commitments: it demands accountability, investment and action that leaves no one behind.
